UWS RESIDENCE KITCHEN

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

SCOPE

THE CLIENT DESIRED A KITCHEN FOR MODERNIZED LIVING AND ENTERTAINING. LOCATED IN A PRE-WAR, UPPER WEST SIDE CO-OP, THE LIVING AND DINING QUARTERS OF THE APARTMENT ARE SEGMENTED AND NOT IN LINE WITH THE WAY IN WHICH THE CLIENT USES THE SPACE.

PROPOSAL

BUREAU BRAUN PROPOSES TO OPEN THE KITCHEN TO THE LIVING SPACE FOR SEAMLESS HOSPITALITY AND MAXIMIZATION OF SIGHT LINES. THE RESULT: THE PERCEPTION OF A GRANDER AND WARMER KITCHEN—THE HEARTH OF THE HOME—THAT WORKS AS WELL AS IT LOOKS.

WITH THE KITCHEN OPEN TO THE MAIN LIVING SPACE, TWO THINGS ARE ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT: THE KITCHEN CASEWORK APPEARS AS FURNITURE ELEMENTS (SUCH AS A LIBRARY) AND PROPER VENTILATION IS PROVIDED.
