TECHNOLOGY OFFICE

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA

THE TEAM LOVES THE SALES FLOOR SO MUCH, WE CAN’T GET THEM TO GO BACK TO THEIR DESKS!
— CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, CLIENT

SCOPE

THE CLIENT ASKED BUREAU BRAUN TO CONSIDER OPTIONS TO BRIGHTEN AND MODERNIZE ITS IRVINE OFFICES ON A ECONOMICAL BUDGET. IN ADDITION, THE CLIENT ALSO DESIRED A HIGHLY-COLLABORATIVE DESKING SOLUTION FOR A CRITICAL SALES FUNCTION OF ITS BUSINESS.

SOLUTION

BUREAU BRAUN FOCUSED ITS EFFORTS ON RE-PAINTING AND RE-CARPETING THE SPACE. WE LOOKED TO RICHARD DIEBENKORN FOR THE PROJECT COLOR PALETTE, SPECIFICALLY FROM HIS OCEAN PARK SERIES, AN HOMAGE TO THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LANDSCAPE. THE CARPET AND ANCILLARY FURNITURE PALETTE ALSO DREW FROM THIS OCEAN-LANDSCAPE PALETTE: WHITE OAK, COGNAC LEATHER, WHITE POWDER-COATED METAL, AND LINEAR TEXTURES.

FOR THE HIGHLY-COLLABORATIVE “SALES FLOOR,” BUREAU BRAUN BROKE WITH THE GLOBAL DESIGN STANDARDS IT CREATED FOR THE CLIENT, USING “120’S” INSTEAD OF THE “30 X 60” STANDARD, FOR A UNIQUE ENVIRONMENT.

CONCEPT

BUREAU BRAUN LOOKED TO RICHARD DIEBENKORN, THE FAMED CALIFORNIA ARTIST, WHO PRODIGIOUSLY PAINTED THE CALIFORNIA LANDSCAPE, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

THE LOGIC OF EXISTING ARCHITECTURE INSPIRED THE MATERIAL APPLICATION TO INFORM THE END-USERS’ WAY-FINDING IN THE SPACE.

PALETTE

DARK, TEXTURAL CARPET GROUNDS THE OTHERWISE VIBRANT WALL FINISH PALETTE. THE CLIENT HAD AN EXISTING, SPECIMEN PLANT COLLECTION, WHICH WERE STRATEGICALLY RE-LOCATED ACROSS THE WORKPLACE.

APPLICATION

SALES FLOOR RE-ORGANIZATION

THE CLIENT ASKED FOR A SALES FLOOR THAT WOULD ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO THINK DIFFERENTLY. BUREAU BRAUN ADVISED THE CLIENT TO UTILIZE “120" DESKS” IN PLACE OF THE STANDARD “30X60'S.” THE CLIENT DECIDED TO FORGO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEXT “30X60” DESKS ACROSS THE SPACE, RE-PURPOSING THE EXISTING DESKS AND DESK LAYOUT.

THE TEAMS TAKE SO MUCH PRIDE IN THE SPACE NOW. IS THIS REALLY ONLY CARPET AND PAINT?
