TECHNOLOGY OFFICES
NEW YORK, NEW YORK
THIS PROJECT BEGAN WITH A SKETCH—WELL TWO. HOW DID THE CLIENT CURRENTLY WORK, AND HOW DID IT WANT TO WORK IN THE FUTURE? PREVIOUSLY, THE CLIENT CAME FROM A TRADITIONAL WORKPLACE—ONE PERSON TO ONE OFFICE—BUT DUE TO ECONOMIC CONSTRAINTS, IT WAS NECESSARY TO DENSIFY. THE CLIENT’S NEW SPACE WOULD BE ONE PERSON TO ONE DESK.
BUREAU BRAUN EMPLOYED BEST PRACTICES IN WORKPLACE DESIGN TO ENSURE THIS DRASTIC TRANSITION WAS SUCCESSFUL. IF THE DESIGN WERE SIMPLY ONE PERSON TO ONE DESK, IT WOULD HAVE FAILED. INSTEAD, WE CREATED “SECOND AND THIRD SPACES.” SPACES FOR STAFF TO ESCAPE FOR HEADS-DOWN WORK, AND SPACES FOR STAFF TO WORK IN AN ALTERNATIVE ENVIRONMENT, SUCH AS A WORK CAFE.
IN KEEPING WITH ITS DESIRE FOR A WORLD-CLASS WORKPLACE, THE CLIENT ALSO REQUESTED BUREAU BRAUN TO CURATE AN ART PROGRAM ACROSS ITS OFFICES. IN NEW YORK, WE BROUGHT TOGETHER ARCHITECTURAL AND FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY FROM THE US AND THE UK.
